I’m progressing through The Blender 2.8 Encyclopedia course on Udemy and it’s brilliant, probably my favourite so far. It’s great for using as a reference; I can hop around different parts of the course without feeling pressured to watch everything in order.
At the end of the course there is a final project to create an isometric living room rendered with an orthographic camera. I followed it step by step copying everything more or less exactly, so my final result is more or less identical to the instructors. Of course it isn’t my own “art”, but still going through the steps of creating something like this will hopefully set me up for success making my own scenes in the future. I learned a lot.
My final orthographic render looked like this below:
I was curious as to how it would look rendered with a perspective projection, so I did that too below. Personally I think I prefer the perspective. Both renders were made with Cycles using 2048 samples.
Whilst I’m working through the rest of the Encylopedia course (its 52 hours so takes a while) I’ll probably try and do a couple more tutorials here and there alongside. I have another course I bought a few years ago for making landscapes and environments in Blender, so that will probably be my next step after this one.
