Whilst I’m working my way through The Blender 2.8 Encyclopedia I decided to do this relatively simple chair following The Blender Guru.
The reason I wanted to make this one is because I was curious how he would make the curves. Should we be using deform modifiers or just moving the vertices around manually with subsurf? At least for this chair it was the latter.
One thing that was good about this tutorial is I realised I already knew how to do nearly all of it, and plenty of times in the tutorial I was able to move ahead and implement parts myself without waiting for his explanations. I feel good I could model this chair again from scratch without any other online guidance if I wanted to, so maybe I’m finally moving from Beginner level to Intermediate?
Rendered in Cycles 1920x1920 with 2048 samples and using a denoise in post processing.
